Window Rock Modern Two retreats in the mountains of Tennessee |

Fall 2026 Fall on the MountainIn this issue: Isabella’s stay at Jackson Point · limited availability through end of year · early Black Friday code · new gift cards · activity calendar It’s early November and the leaves are about at peak before falling. Winter is just around the corner, which opens up the view a bit more. This is fireplace and fire pit season up here. One more update: we finally have grass at Jackson Point. The house was brand new when we opened in April, so early guests got more dirt than lawn. Sod went in this fall and it’s looking good. |

From our recent guests Isabella at Jackson PointIsabella (@isabella.ugc01) is a Nashville creator who shoots travel and standout places to stay. She stayed with us at Jackson Point in late October, right as the color was turning, and her photos are all over this letter. She got up early enough to catch the valley full of fog at sunrise (we’re usually not that disciplined), folded open the fourteen-foot wall in the Wellness + Music Room, and took a long soak in the primary bath. Go give her a follow. |

Winter is coming Lights, carols and old carsThe holidays are close behind. Here’s what’s going on near both homes through the end of the year. |

Jackson Point · Sewanee, Monteagle & the caverns In Sewanee, December is all about All Saints’ Chapel, less than 25 minutes from Jackson Point. The university’s Christmas tree lighting at Convocation Hall kicks things off. The first weekend of December is the Festival Service of Lessons and Carols: the University Choir, carols and scripture readings, a Sewanee tradition for more than sixty years. Services are Saturday, December 5 at 4pm (tickets required) and 7pm, and Sunday, December 6 at 4pm. The 7pm and Sunday services don’t need tickets, and doors open an hour before. The day before, Friday, December 4, anyone can help green the chapel starting at 9am. About 45 minutes away, The Caverns keeps shows going in its underground amphitheater well into December. Check the lineup before you come up. |

Things to do — and ways to stay warm Get out, then warm up |
The A-Frame On the Chattanooga side the holidays go big: Christmas Underground at Ruby Falls, Holidays Under the Peaks at the Tennessee Aquarium, and holiday train rides from the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, including the North Pole Limited. Then drive back up the mountain and get in the cedar hot tub, with the fireplace right inside. Cold air, hot water: that’s winter at The A-Frame. |

Jackson Point Winter’s good hiking weather around Sewanee. With the leaves down, you see a lot more. Morgan’s Steep and the Memorial Cross have two of the best overlooks on the mountain. Shakerag Hollow and the Sewanee Natural Bridge are worth doing after a hard freeze, when icicles form on the sandstone. Then come back in, light the fireplace, put a record on in the Wellness + Music Room, and soak in the cedar tub. The primary bath has heated floors, which you’ll appreciate in January. |

What winter’s like up here Fog, frost and the occasional flurry |
Winter on the Plateau is a bit cooler than the lower-lying areas, and may get a bit more snow. Winter highs average in the mid 40s, while lows hover right around freezing. The A-Frame is up on the bluff at about 2,000 feet, while Jackson Point is just over 1,800. On a lot of winter mornings the valleys fill with fog, and you can end up looking down on top of it. While snow is fairly rare (even the snowiest months average only an inch or two), it can happen. We usually get around fine in a two-wheel-drive car, but four- or all-wheel-drive vehicles may give you a little more peace of mind. |
